Corpus Christi Procession at the Mission

On June 19, on the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ, little visitors of the Mission and their families gathered together to experience the Eucharistic feast.

From early morning, preparations for the solemn procession were in full swing. During catechesis, children reflected on the mystery of Jesus Christ’s presence in the Most Holy Host, after which they proceeded to prepare decorative elements. Before
the Holy Mass, the Mission chapel was filled with children dressed in white.

The Eucharist was celebrated by Archbishop Tadevuš Kandrusievič. Guests also arrived for the solemnity: the Apostolic Administrator for Greek Catholics in Belarus, Archimandrite Siarhiej Hajek, and Fr. Illa Saŭčanka MIC.

Traditionally, after the Holy Mass, a solemn procession took place around the Mission. The youngest visitors of the Mission took a special part in it. They not only carried attributes with Eucharistic symbolism but also actively participated during Gospel reflections at four altars. Thanks to our pastor, Fr. Alaksandr Šamrycki MIC, children recalled who a disciple of Christ is and what his task is in the world. At the second altar, after hearing the Gospel words about how Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, the procession participants saw with their own eyes how we should treat each other. At subsequent stations, children had the opportunity to feel like disciples at the Last Supper, tasting grapes from which wine is made, and real flatbreads that the Priest shared just as Jesus did.
Thanks to such an experience of the solemnity, everyone present better understood the meaning of the feast and deepened their relationship with the Eucharistic Jesus.
