“Meihua Theater” (meihua in Chinese 梅花 – plum blossom) – the team of artistic creativity of the faculty of the Chinese Language and Culture of Minsk State Linguistic University performed at the Social Christian Center. The program was presented for the members of the “Samaritan” Community and the Social Volunteer Club. The audience plunged into the atmosphere of Chinese culture and art, the beauty and colorfulness of traditional performances.
Maryna Filimonava, the head of the team, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of the Chinese Language and Culture of MSLU, told us about the theater:
“The “Meihua Theater” officially exists on the basis of the Faculty of the Chinese Language and Culture of Minsk State Linguistic University since 2018. Our creative team has two departments: dance (85 members) and theater (35 members). We accept all the interested students of the faculty, regardless of their level of dance and theatrical skills. The main thing is the desire to create and experiment.
The basis of our creative performances is the rich culture of China: legends, fairy tales, folk traditions and Chinese philosophy.
In addition to participating in the festive programs of the university and the Confucius Institute, we perform at city events, at the Great Stone, with great pleasure we perform in schools and gymnasiums. We treat performances in orphanages and social centers with special trepidation. This experience is invaluable for us.”
As Maryna Filimonava noted, any social or educational institution can invite the Meihua Theater team to perform. To do this, you need to contact the official Instagram page or call Maryna Syarheeuna at the Faculty of Chinese Language and Culture of MSLU.
The organization of the performance of the “Meihua Theater” at the Christian Social Center was handled by Palina Mankovich, a 4th–year student of the Chinese Language Faculty and “Youth Ambassador of the Sustainable Development Goals – the future of the planet is in our hands”.
“I try to organize volunteer-oriented events. We performed for the Volunteer Club, here at your Christian Social Center, and we are thinking over a program for orphanages.
I was a volunteer at the Stork – children’s camp of the Belarusian Children’s Hospice. That’s where the idea came up to organize a performance for the guys. Our head Maryna Syarheeuna supported this direction.
If representatives of social centers, orphanages want us to perform at them, then I suggest writing to us. We will be happy to come and perform”.
