On October 18, the prayer action “One Million Children Praying the Rosary” took place, which connected five cities from all dioceses of Belarus via the online video-conference.

“One Million Children Praying the Rosary” – a worldwide initiative. Its main goal is to show that the trusting prayer of children can be raised simply to God and thus change the world. Praying the Rosary, children together ask for peace and harmony in their families, among people and the whole world.

For the fourth year already, the Charitable Mission of the Good Samaritan under the patronage of St. Ursula Ledóchowska organizes a prayer vigil with the participation of children. This year, the service united the children of Belarus again in a communal prayer for peace and unity in the whole world. Many children from different Minsk parishes, as well as from the National Sanctuary in Budslaw, gathered at the Christian Social Center.

Priests in the churches of Minsk, Mahilyow, Braslaw, Homel, and Hrodna blessed the Rosaries that the children brought with them. In the chapel of the Christian Social Center, Bishop Yury Kasabutsky blessed the Rosaries.

The secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature in the Republic of Belarus, Fr. Krzysztof Seroka, addressed the audience with a welcoming speech on behalf of Pope Francis, in which he said:

“As a sign that Pope Francis knows about you and prays with you, I am giving you a Rosary from him, which after the service will go on a prayer journey through the parishes of Belarus.”

Archbishop Tadewush Kandrusevich cordially greeted the children gathered in the churches of Belarus and said: “The Rosary is a very simple and very powerful prayer. It is Saint Mary’s prayer, but at the same time, perhaps to a greater extent, Jesus’ prayer, because Mary leads us in this prayer to her son Jesus Christ, the Savior of us and the whole world. In her apparitions, Saint Mary was always with the Rosary, she called to pray the Rosary, especially to pray for peace. Friends usually gather at the table, and today we sit at the table of the Holy Rosary, so that it unites us, and we live in peace, which each of us, as well as our families, our society and the whole world, requires. Lord Jesus, look at the children all over the world, of different languages and cultures, of different nationalities and skin colors, who are Catholics, believers who pray the Holy Rosary. May the grace of peace descend upon the whole world thanks to this prayer.”

At the beginning of each Glorious Mystery, the children recalled its meaning and reflected.
