The Celebration of the Revelation of the Lord

On January 6, a festive Holy Mass was held at the Christian social center. On this day, the Church celebrates the triumph of the revelation of the Lord and remembers the worship of the wise men from the East who brought their gifts to the Infant Jesus. The church tradition also calls these wise men kings (hence the other name of the holiday – Three Kings).

“When they saw the star, they were very happy.
When they entered the house, they saw the child with Maria, his mother.
Having fallen down, they worshiped Him and, having opened their treasuries,
They donated gifts to him: gold, censer and peace”
                                                (Mt 2, 10-11).

It is traditional on this day to bless the censer and chalk, which we use to mark the doors of our home. This year, this inscription will look like this: C+M+b+2023. there are two interpretations of understanding letters, but they do not contradict each other. The first one says that the three letters are the initials of the three kings (Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar – Caspar, Melchior, Baltasar). The second reminds that at the very beginning of the tradition it was an abbreviated record of the Latin parting words: Christus mansionem benedicat – “may Christ bless the dwelling”. Through the designation of the doors of our dwelling, we publicly define our faith, indicating that confessors of Christ live in this place.

During the service, an important event took place – the reception of the Minister Anton, a pupil of the mission. This moment is long-awaited and very important for everyone, because from this time a new stage with new responsibilities begins. Being a minister is a great responsibility and honor. For those present at the mass, it was a sign that a real God lives in the hearts of modern young Belarusians. We congratulate Anton and wish him to follow Jesus boldly throughout his life.
