The Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas) in the Mission

On February 2, during the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord (Candlemas), Archbishop Juzaf Staniezski led the celebration of the Conventual Holy Mass at the chapel of the Christian Social Center. The chapel under the title of the Presentation of the Lord is the only place of worship in the Minsk-Mahiloŭ Archdiocese dedicated to Our Lady of Candlemas.

Also present at the ceremony were Archbishop Tadevuš Kandrusievič, Archimandrite Siarhiej Hajek, and Father Juryj Jasievič. During the Eucharist, the traditional blessing of candles took place. After the liturgy, Archbishop Józef Stanecki blessed all present with a figurine of the Child Jesus. This rite is linked to the tradition of “saying goodbye”; to the figure of the little Christ from the
Christmas nativity scene.
